Ohlone Clarinet Choir
Hello,

You’re receiving this email because I’ve either played with you in a clarinet choir, play with you in a current band or orchestra, and/or you’ve expressed interest to me in the past about clarinet choirs.

The biggest problem in the past for forming a group was finding rehearsal space and time. And I think we’ve got that fixed. Ohlone College (in Fremont, CA) has a community course program in which they hold classes on varied subjects.

By creating a course, and paying a nominal fee as a student, it will get us rehearsal space, performance space, resources for music purchase, and an experienced conductor, Mr. Tony Clements.

The college has already been approached and a time slot has been secured on the fall 2012 calendar.

The details:

  • This would be a come-one come-all group. (However it is not a remedial ensemble, or an ensemble for beginners.)
  • It will meet during the school year. (Fall and Spring semesters)
  • Tentatively, there will be one performance per semester. (TBD)
  • The current time slot available is Saturday. 1:00-3:00. (Like the Ohlone Community Band, we could find a spot to socialize and brunch before the rehearsal.)
  • Attendance will be flexible, reflecting the lighter load and nature of the group. (I know a lot of you guys and gals are doing shows and other performances regularly. Folks should make the last few rehearsals in front of the performance.)

The goal is to make a light-weight and fun group to play in.

I’m also hoping that by being in Fremont and on the weekend, it’ll open up the group to people from both around the bay and from over in the valley.

Please let me know if you are interested and I will send you registration information as it comes available.

Feel free to share this letter and/or the website with anyone you think who might be interested.
